The Glazer family

Malcom Glazer is behind much of the wealth now attributed to the Glazer Clan (21 members strong) from commercial real estate holdings to championship football teams (American and British). In 1995, Malcolm purchased the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for $192M and today the team is worth more than $1.2B. Across the pond, the Glazer family purchased Manchester United in 2003, Britain’s premier soccer team, a move that was not received well by the fans. The team, purchased for $1.4B is now valued at $3.1B. It’s not all fun and games for the Glazer’s though.

The family’s commercial real estate wealth is rooted in the success of First Allied Corp, founded by the late Malcolm Glazer in 1984 (Malcolm inherited his father’s watch business in 1943 and began investing in property soon after). The company specializes in all things shopping center from ownership to management and leasing and currently owns more than 6.7M SF of highly coveted shopping center space across the US.
