B. Wayne Hughes Jr. inherited the largest publicly-traded self-storage company in the US from his father. He owns3.5% of Public Storage’s stock and also founded American Commercial Equities Management in 2005 to acquire/manage properties in Hawaii and California.
It specializes in prime locations and prestigious markets with more than 60 retail and mixed-use properties. His father B. Wayne Hughes started Public Storage in 1972 with one storage locker; now it has 2,200 unique locations covering more than 142M SF of net rentable real estate.
On the philanthropic front, Wayne works to reform our prison system and help veterans, victims of crime and ex-offenders and promotes Christian values. He’s an avid horseback rider and surfer.
