A Princeton grad, private equity investor StephenFeinberg began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Since then, Stephen has generated incredible returns during his decades at Cerebus Capital Management—which employs former Treasury Secretary JohnSnow and former Vice President DanQuayle—but some terrible press as well.
In 2009, for example, Cerberus was blamed for the Chrysler Group’s bankruptcy after buying the company two years earlier. Cerebus later benefited from Washington's bailout of the top three US automakers. In the wake of the 2013 Sandy Hook massacre, Cerebus took some flak for owning the Freedom Group, which manufactures the Bushmaster rifle. Most recently, Stephen and Cerberus oversaw the merger of supermarkets Safeway and Albertsons.
