Jim Davis, New Balance

In 1972, Jim Davis purchased New Balance for $100k, when the six-person company was making 30 pairs of running shoes a day; in 2013, the company reported $2.73B in global sales. Today, he serves as chairman of the company with more than 2,600 employees. Before acquiring New Balance, Jim and his brothers started their own real estate and acquisition management business.

New Balance’s new HQ (250k SF) recently opened as part of Boston Landing, a 15-acre, $500M development in Brighton, MA with a hotel, retail space, apartments, and a Boston Bruins practice rink. Jim has commercial properties in nearby Gloucester, MA including the Beauport Gloucester, a $25M, 101-room waterfront hotel.
