Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie cut ribbon last week with IKEA Canada president Stefan Sjöstrand on the retailer’s new 397k SF distribution centre at 3275 Argentina Rd. The facility will house 200 workers and enable the retailer to better service its four GTA stores and e-commerce operations, the company said, enabling shorter lead times for customers to receive products, while also helping meet sustainability goals. IKEA plans to double its nationwide store count to 24 by 2025. A new Halifax location opens in 2017, and IKEA sees growth potential in the pick-up and order points currently being piloted.
