If we know one thing about Kamloops, it's that people there hate backing into parking spaces. (Picture as evidence.) If we know two things, it's that retail vacancy has dropped. It's at 5.66% (compared to 5.85% this time last year), with nearly 290k SF of space available, according to Colliers. Notable recent leases include GAP Factory Store (7k SF at Aberdeen Mall, pictured) and Dollarama (10k SF at Fortune Shopping Centre). Most retail activity has been in the Southgate/Sahali region, Colliers notes, with Scotiabank and Menchies leasing spaces in old movie store locations. Kamloops currently has 28k SF of retail under construction.
