Both Carl’s Jr. Toronto locations have been shuttered, reportedly as a result of contractual issues between the US burger chain and its local franchisee. Here’s a shot of the Carl’s Jr. Queen Street team in happier days: 2014, when the Toronto locations opened as part of an aggressive national expansion. “Our franchisee in Ontario…has decided to close the restaurants on Queen Street and Yonge Street,” Carl’s Jr. said in a statement posted on Twitter, noting it has plans to open two new locations this month and has commitments from existing franchisees for 30 additional restaurants. The locations in Waterloo and Guelph remain open.
