Cara Acquires St-Hubert Restaurant Chain For $537M

Cara Operations has reached a deal to acquire 100% of Groupe St-Hubert Inc, a Québec-based full-service restaurant operator and food manufacturer, for $537M. The acquisition allows Swiss Chalet owner Cara to grow its Quebec footprint, with 117 St-Hubert restaurants, 28 owned properties (including two manufacturing plants), and two distribution centres. The alliance will ensure St-Hubert’s “sound development,” CEO Jean-Pierre Léger said, enabling his company to carry out major expansions of its food-manufacturing programs and sales across Canada and open up future prospects for employees.
