Hundreds lined up for the opening of Orange County's latest food hall.
SteelCraft held a grand opening Sept. 26 for SteelCraft Garden Grove, an outdoor food hall made from 22 repurposed shipping containers. Ten food and beverage retailers occupy the space.
Local officials celebrated the development as part of Garden Grove's plan to reimagine its downtown area.
"Talk about a 'wow!' moment, Garden Grove is over-the-top thrilled, excited and overjoyed to see SteelCraft add its one-of-a-kind vibe to our reimagined downtown," Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones said during a press event Thursday ahead of the grand opening later that day.
SteelCraft Garden Grove is the latest food hall to enter the Orange County market.
In July, Lincoln Property Co. unveiled the Mess Hall Market as part of its 38-acre FLIGHT creative office campus in Tustin.
Seven food halls have opened in Orange County since 2014, including The Anaheim Packing District in Anaheim, Lot 579 at Pacific City in Huntington Beach and 4th Street Market in Santa Ana.
Two more food halls are slated to enter the market soon.
Vietnamese businessman Frank Jao is planning to open a 20K SF food hall in the Little Saigon area of Westminster, and a JV of Steelwave and Invesco Real Estate along with LAB Holdings are developing a 52K SF food hall and retail space at The Plant in Costa Mesa.
The Plant is a $200M, 380K SF creative office campus at the former Los Angeles Times' Orange County newsroom and printing plant. LAB Holdings is the company behind The CAMP eco retail campus, the Anaheim Packing District and Center Street Anaheim.

SteelCraft's Garden Grove location at 12900 Euclid St. is the company's third and largest food hall.
The company opened a 15K SF food hall in Bellflower in June. SteelCraft's first location opened in 2017 in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach.
The Garden Grove food hall is 20K SF made up of repurposed shipping containers that are woven together.
During the grand opening, hundreds of people lined up for free prizes, discounted food coupons and to check out the new eateries inside the steel development.
The open-air roof project features an enclosed courtyard with tables and benches; a performance stage; a retro video arcade; and several restaurants, including Beachwood Brewing, Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, Cauldron Ice Cream, Honey & Butter Macarons, The Nest: A Breakfast Joint, The Chick 'N Shack, Barrio: Modern Filipino BBQ, Renegade Taco, and NHL Hockey Hall of Famer and former Anaheim Duck Teemu Selanne's The Penalty Box.
Wilson Creek Winery will open soon.
