Goal Of New Plaza Midwood Retail: Add To The Neighborhood Vibe

Work has started on the retail component of One305 Central in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, east of Uptown. "Plaza Midwood is begging for new and more contemporary amenities,” said The Shopping Center Group leasing adviser Darrell Palasciano.

The 10k SF of retail gets underway just as the 281-unit residential portion of the development by Tribridge Residential is nearly complete. The retail space, which will be in a redeveloped existing structure, is more than an amenity for residents of One305 Central, Palasciano said.

"Plaza Midwood has seen a dramatic comeback as reinvestment has transformed many of the area’s historic, Craftsman-style homes," he said. One305 Central, including its retail, is designed to complement the character of the neighborhood.

The Shopping Center Group is now seeking dining and entertainment tenants for the building that will add to the vibe of the neighborhood, Palasciano said. The new tenants will occupy the building at the corner of Central and Clement avenues, originally built in the 1960s and '70s and most recently occupied by Something Classic and Fern restaurant.

Two known local restaurateurs and one microbrewery are seriously eyeing the space, according to Palasciano. The renovated building will also incorporate 2k SF of patio space with large installations by local artists. Hood Architecture designed the updated retail and restaurant space, which is slated for completion in the fall.
