New Luxury Outlet

Fly into Vancouver International Airport, look out your window, and down below you’ll see the early stages of B.C.s first luxury designer outlet centre (or you could just look at the rendering... that other stuff is kind of expensive) on a 30-acre site. Sea Island Luxury Designer Outlet—a partnership between Vancouver Airport Authority and Europe’s McArthurGlen Group—is set to open in the spring of 2015. The shopping centre will feature 35k SF of luxury, designer, and lifestyle retail near the Templeton Canada Line station.

The project, says Vancouver Airport Authority SVP Tony Gugliotta, will offer a new revenue source for YVR and will create 1,000 jobs. McArthurGlen’s designer outlets in Europe are known for brands like Prada, Armani, Burberry, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, and Michael Kors. (Our credit cards are about to disintegrate.) The project will be designed as an open-air village, with pedestrian walkways and tree-lined streets.
