With the BOMA International TOBY Awards only a few weeks away, we wanted to see how our local competition is going to stand up to the heat of other buildings (and hopefully, that's efficient heat). Bramalea City Centre—which took home three honors at the recent BOMA Toronto awards (Outstanding Building of the Year, Earth Award, and Certificate of Excellence)—has invested where it counts, GM Andrew Butler tells us: a waste management program diverting recyclables from landfills; retrofitting to high efficiency fixtures and lighting; adding charging stations for electric cars; and launching programs with retailers like Best Buy where customers can bring in old electronics. We'll see how we stack up in Orlando—may the best building win!
