LA's Top Retail Brokers

We recently told you about some of the top office and multifamily brokers in LA. In Part 3 of Bisnow's ongoing series, here's a look at the top retail brokers in the city.

1. Richard Rizika

Title: Managing director, CBRE

Deal Volume: 201

Deal Value: $581M

Deal SF: 5.2M SF

Richard (snapped here with his family) had a strong 2014, highlighted by repping 99 Cents Only Stores in its 615k SF lease in Commerce. The building is the largest new free-standing industrial development in Central LA and is the company's new corporate HQ.

2. Jay Luchs

Title: EVP, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank

Deal Volume: 65

Deal Value: $515M

Deal SF: 282k SF

Here's Jay (bottom right) and his team: Inee Byun, Amanda Matus, Genny Chang and Gavin Ketchum. Jay tells us the highlight deal of the year was the sale and lease of a three-story, 13k SF building in the Beverly Hills triangle located at 357 N Beverly Dr. The team sold the property and then leased the entire building for 15 years plus options to COS, an H&M brand.

3. Kyle Matthews

Title: Senior EVP, Colliers

Deal Volume: 98

Deal Value: $267M

Deal SF: 2M SF

Kyle (snapped here in his office) and his team’s largest deal of 2014 was actually out of state. The team repped both sides in the sale of a dual grocery-anchored center featuring Trader Joe’s and Healthy Living Market in South Burlington, VT. The center traded for $24.4M. The Trader Joe's and an adjoining Pier One Imports were still under construction and the Healthy Living Center had already been built.

4. Leslie J. Mayer

Title: Exec director of retail services, Cushman & Wakefield

Deal Volume: 39

Deal Value: $131M

Deal SF: 223k SF

Leslie is focused on retail and restaurants, and last year brokered an 11k SF lease on San Vicente in Brentwood for Baltaire. The restaurant features one of the largest outdoor patio areas in LA and works for brunch, lunch, dinner and late night dining and drinks.

5. Stephanie Skrbin

Title: Principal, Lee & Associates-LA North/Ventura

Deal Volume: 26

Deal Value: $55M

Deal SF: 123k SF

Stephanie (snapped wine tasting in Napa Valley) spent much of 2014 repping Selleck Development Group (brother of the mustache) in the leasing of Shoppes at Westlake Village, a 240k SF open-air retail complex. She brought the center up to full occupancy just a few months after its opening in July.
