GO TO THE ZOO, COLLECT $200

Last week marked NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate's and Real Estate Alumni Associates' 19th annual Evening of Monopoly, its annual fall kick-off networking event for real estate execs, alumni, and students. Here's NYU Schack divisional dean Jim Stuckey andKenneth Schack with the man of the hour: Normandy Real Estate Partners founder and '97 alum David Welsh (center), who was dubbed the night's “Honorary Banker.” (The sea lions behind him gave a seal of approval.) David said the Central Park Zoo—a new venue for the event—was more appropriate for real estate folks and that he heard the zookeeper was building a permanent exhibit forpredatory lenders.
Newmark Knight Frank's Alice DiMarzio, JLL's Ben Singer, JPMorgan Chase's Mike Winter, Ultimate Abstract of New York'sTom Hanik, and JPMorgan's Calvary Garrett. The group is made of alumni and old friends, and they come to meet and support Monopoly night each year. Net proceeds from the event support NYU Schack initiatives like scholarships, career development, panel discussions, networking venues, and new academic programs. As of last week, it had raised $270k—a record.

Roseland has three multifamily properties under development (including Riverbend at Port Imperial in West New York, NJ) and plans to break ground on two new ones soon, says Debra. Right now, it's leasing The Monaco in Jersey City (in which KeyBank has a lending position). And within the next six to eight months, Joe says, he's breaking ground on the boutique Broome and Bowery Hotel(you'll never forget the address), with 176 rooms and performance space.
Blesso Properties' Adam Rosenberg and Sara Willard with Vision Equities' Amy Sole and Herrick Feinstein's Laurie Grasso. Adam and Sara say Blesso Properties just finished spiffing up a luxury residential development at 421 W 22nd St in Chelsea, a rental that will eventually be converted to condos. Chelsea's hot, hot, hot right now—they're getting $85/SF for rentals, they report.
