Cherry Creek Shopping Center plans to install a "smart parking" system at the property. Among other features, upon entry into the parking lot or structure, the system will tell visitors about parking space availability, and direct them to the most convenient spots. The system will be online in January, and will involve a fee to park (currently parking is free at the mall).
The 5,000-spot parking structure at the shopping center accounts for about 70% of all the available parking in the fast-growing Cherry Creek neighborhood, the Denver Business Journal reports. The new price of parking hasn't been set yet, but it will be free during the first hour and during events, such as Cherry Creek Fresh Markets and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. [DBJ]
