The Cleveland City Council has adopted zoning legislation that will clear the way for state-licensed medical marijuana facilities to set up shop in certain parts of the city.
Such facilities include cultivators, processors, retail dispensaries and testing laboratories, WKYC reports.
The new zoning rules ban cannabis operations within 500 feet of schools, parks, churches and libraries, as state law requires.
State legislators finished hammering out regulations for Ohio's medical marijuana program in July, following its legalization in 2016.
Cuyahoga County, along with Franklin and Hamilton counties, can have up to five dispensaries, according to Ohio state law.
The tightly regulated program will start small with the ability to grow if more patients sign up.
