Top Builder Optimistic

Builders also still see opportunity in Charlotte. Balfour Beatty Construction, which was recently named the top contractor in the area by the Charlotte Business Journal, is optimistic  about multifamily housing, along with healthcare and other specialized work, such as the core and shell and interior the company did at 1 Bank of America Center in Uptown (pictured). Carolinas Division president John Woodcock qualifies that as "cautiously optimistic." (If 2008 taught us anything, it's that things can go wrong in a hurry.) Still, he tells Bisnow, the company will continue bringing the collaborative national strengths to projects in local markets, a dynamic that might help account for it being the top dog in the area.
