| When the Trump Org bought the Point Lake and Golf Club on the shores of Lake Norman near Charlotte recently for $3M, it wasted no time in renaming the place Trump National Golf Club, Charlotte. The Donald—who will be in the state to give the keynote at the NC Republican Party convention in June—also managed to publicize the area, well-known locally, but not so much nationally (the picture is the lake, in case you didn't recognize it). ?The purchase of the Point by such a well-known business magnate, combined with growing recognition due to the DNC, certainly places an immensely larger spotlight on our area," Visit Lake Norman exec director Sally Ashworth tells Bisnow. With heightened awareness comes a heightened potential for residential and recreational development, which in turn will increase business for existing properties, such as the newly rechristened Trump golf club.
