KKR-Affiliated Data Center Developer CyrusOne Names New CEO
Data center owner, operator and developer CyrusOne has promoted John Hatem to CEO.
Hatem's promotion is effective immediately. He will also have a seat on the company's board of directors.
The Dallas-based company's outgoing CEO, Eric Schwartz, is stepping down and will work with Hatem to ensure a smooth transition, the company said in a press release.
"I have never been more excited about what lies ahead," Hatem said in a statement. "As workloads become more power-intensive and demand for faster delivery grows, our structural advantages have never mattered more.”
Hatem has been with KKR & Co. affiliate CyrusOne since 2011, most recently serving as president.
CyrusOne has had a busy 2026. The Army selected CyrusOne to build a data center on 1,200 acres at a Utah military base, and the company has announced new data centers in the San Antonio region.
It also teamed up with battery energy storage systems company Eolian in Fort Worth to speed up the timeline to deploy a 200-megawatt data center near Fort Worth. It is also reshuffling its internal structures, bringing operations roles in-house in May.
