Timothy Headington founded Headington Oil in 1978. The firm had extensive interests in the Bakken oil reserves of North Dakota, and over the course of 30 years he built the firm into a business worth the $1.9B payout he got from XTO Energy in 2008. Since then, he has moved into working as a producer and bankroller of Hollywood films. His credits include "Argo," "Hugo" and "World War Z."
Headington also has interests in hotels, and launched the boutique Hotel Joule in a former bank building in 2008. He owns a 33-acre tract of prime land in Dallas’ Design District, where he has recently opened several new restaurant concepts. The land is being developed into a major mixed-use project. — Scott Klocksin
