The owner of arguably the most famous skyscraper in history, the Empire State Building, Tony Malkin controls a 10M SF portfolio of Manhattan office and retail space through Empire State Realty Trust.
The company went public in a 2013 transaction that valued its shares at $13 apiece. (As of mid-2017, the stock was going for about $21/share.)
Malkin is known as a leader in retrofitting old buildings for energy efficiency — most famously at the Empire State Building, which cut $7.5M from its energy costs over the first three years of a retrofit that began in 2009. — Scott Klocksin
