Tilman Fertitta is probably most famous for starring in the reality TV series "Billion Dollar Buyer," which gives young startups the chance to compete to be vendors for his entertainment empire. He became a billionaire as chairman and CEO of the Landry’s chain of restaurants, which operates about 500 locations, including Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and others. He also owns Golden Nugget Casinos and tourist havens like the Kemah Boardwalk outside of Houston.
Fertitta is developing a 680K SF mixed-use tower near Houston’s Galleria in the uptown area. In September, he won the bidding to buy the Houston Rockets, shelling out an NBA-record $2.2B to acquire his hometown team. — Scott Klocksin
