Stephen Karp is among New England’s largest commercial landlords, with about 50M SF around the region. One of his early projects was Liberty Tree Mall, one of the earliest enclosed malls in the Northeast. He would go on to build or acquire a total of 20 malls. In the late 1990s, he sold 14 of them for $1.75B to Simon Property Group.
A major part of his business involves airport retail. He has developed space in busy airports like LaGuardia, Dulles and SeaTac. He serves as a trustee at his alma mater, Boston University. — Scott Klocksin
