Developers to Mayor Tory: Tear Down the Gardiner East

A group of top Toronto developers with waterfront interests has joined the campaign pushing to tear down the Gardiner Expressway east of Jarvis Street, replacing it with an eight-lane boulevard. In a letter to council, the “CityBuilders” coalition—which includes Tridel Group, Daniels Corp, Dream Unlimited Corp, Cityzen Development Group, Castlepoint Numa, Streetcar Developments and Manulife Real Estate, among others—urges Mayor John Tory (who supports a hybrid plan to rebuild the link and modify ramps) to remove the “barrier between the city and a new and vibrant, revitalized waterfront that will benefit Torontonians for generations to come.”
