Trammell Set To Break Ground On Little Italy Apartments

Little Italy is getting another new mixed-use project. The Alexan Little Italy, a five-story, 85-unit complex with 4k SF of retail and parking for 150 cars, was recently approved by Civic San Diego (formerly Centre City Development Corp), a quasi-governmental nonprofit group.

The project will occupy a city block between Hawthorne and Grape streets, formerly occupied by a vacant office building. The developer, Dallas-based Trammell Crow Residential, plans to break ground in June, reports San Diego Magazine. Swinerton Builders has been engaged as general contractor.

The Alexan is one of 13 residential and mixed-use projects under construction or in the works in Little Italy. Popular with MillennialsLittle Italy is known for its cultural events, art, boutiques and extraordinary restaurants. [SDmag
