MWAA Moving From DCA TO USAA Building In Crystal City

The agency that manages Reagan National and Dulles Airport will no longer be headquartered at one of the airports it operates.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Administration, or MWAA, is moving from soon-to-be-demolished offices at Reagan National to Two Potomac Yard in Crystal City, above, where it will occupy 74k SF on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors.

CBRE SVPs Erik McLaughlin, Malcolm Schweiker and associate Greg Carpentier repped the building's owner, USAA Real EstateSavills Studley's Bill Quinby, Wendy Feldman Block, David Cornbrooks and Dave Simmons repped MWAA.

The building, at 2733 Crystal Drive, is across the GW Parkway from the airport and next to the HQ of the Environmental Protection Agency.

“There were many viable options available in the Crystal City area,” Savills Studley senior managing director Wendy Feldman Block said in a release. “MWAA was fortunate to have secured a long term lease in a high quality yet affordable building owned and operated by USAA, a strong financial institution.”

The agency is vacating Reagan National to make way for a new passenger concourse. Its new office is less than a mile from the airport, a key point it looked for in its search. It plans to move into the new building as soon as March 2017.

“With the forced relocation of the tenant, we were able to quickly work together to find the best piece of property in the ideal location that was necessary to the operation of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority," CBRE SVP Malcolm Schweiker said in a release.
