Silver Line Phase 2 Is Behind Schedule and Over Budget

Placeholder

Phase 2 of Metro's Silver Line won't be opening until maybe 2020, with construction and design costs $76M over budget. New designs since the completion of Phase 1 through Tysons have pushed back construction and cost toll road drivers and localities millions. The Metro might not open its stop at Dulles Airport and two stops in Loudoun County until 13 months after its initial prediction of 2018, according to the Washington Post. MWAA president Jack Potter said Phase 2 has undergone more than 150 design changes. In addition, when all is said and done, Phase 1—which delivered six months late—could wind up being more than $220M over budget. [WaPo]
