PM Justin Trudeau was in Vancouver on Friday to launch Microsoft’s new office, a development centre company president Brad Smith says will grow Canada’s innovation economy by tapping BC's "robust talent pipeline." The office houses 550 employees working on two floors (142k SF) at 725 Granville with room for 250 more. It has 360-degree views and two 150-person multipurpose community rooms, plus a “Maker’s Garage” for experimental projects. And a ping pong table, natch. Staff are working on products such as Skype and OneNote, games like the Gears of War franchise, and TV apps for NFL, Xbox and Windows 10.
