Top Tips for CRE's Future Leaders

CoreNet Canada's Young Leaders organized a workshop lunch last week aimed at giving burgeoning commercial real estate pros advice on how to approach and deal effectively with senior execs. CBRE Global Corporate Services managing director Brad Henderson (pictured holding forth) hosted the event, dubbed “Speaking to the C-Suite." Brad offered wisdom on everything from presentation techniques to striking a careful balance between giving higher-ups too much info and not enough.

The lunch also offered opportunity for networking, as seen above. Brad encouraged the young group to be confident in approaching senior execs at their firms; most are not as busy as you think, he advised, and you have a right to speak to them. Execs are often the best ones to talk to about business ideas and solutions, he added, and having a variety of mentors that bring out different strengths is “more important than having the same mentor for 10 years.”
