The Cuschieri Horton Architects-designed building is an OSHPD 3 certified site and will serve up to 100 patients at 1450 Kooser Road in San Jose. Amenities will include a private television at each patient station and sustainability features, such as water management tanks, LED lighting and occupancy sensors.

Built With Principle is constructing the center. (That's the team, above, at the groundbreaking.) “This project uses the state-of-the-art building standards that include Title 24 California electric codes, R/O water systems and life safety codes,” says COO Frank Hagaman. Frank notes this project also pays close attention to the families of those undergoing treatment. They will have comfortable areas for their stay and shopping centers if they need supplies.

Satellite Healthcare VP of real estate and facilities Frank Jesse says his company and the building’s owner worked closely to ensure the space could meet the demands of a dialysis center. He is confident the project meets or exceeds the “encompassing electrical requirements, heating and ventilation (HVAC) equipment and elevated fire resistant construction standards” asked of healthcare centers.

The construction marks another element of the medical retailization movement that seeks to increase access by bringing healthcare facilities closer to people.
