PIZZERIA MOZZA COMING TO SD

The restaurant, launched by celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Nancy Silverton, and Joseph Bastianich, is among the first leases signed at The Headquarters, Terramar Retail Centers' $40M adaptive reuse of the Old Police Headquarters building in downtown. The 4,350 SF restaurant will be the third one in the country, Terramar VP of marketing Jennifer Gordon told us yesterday. Btw, if you've ever wanted to sample a slice of pepperoni in the police chief's office of a major city (and who hasn't?), Pizzeria Mozza's two private dining rooms include the space where former Mayor Jerry Sanders worked .

Renovation of the historic complex, seen in pre-redevelopment days, is slated for completion this fall. The 100k SF project, 789 W Harbor Dr, is next to Seaport Village. The dining mix also includes the first Downtown location of The Cheesecake Factory, as well as La Jolla favorites Puesto and Eddie V's. Jennifer tells us that Terramar wanted to be selective in choosing dining spots that would appeal to both residents and tourists. Filling out the menu:Seasons 52, a fresh grill, plus a few additional eateries such as a possible gastropub. The Headquarters is about 65% leased at this point, Jennifer says.
