Field Office Development Aims For Tech, Creative Tenants

National Real Estate Advisors and ^project broke ground recently on Field Office, a 300k SF office development in northwest Portland, with a specific target market in mind: tech and creative services companies.

The attractiveness of Portland is a major part of the draw, relying on a number of intangibles. "The lower cost of living is a factor, but even more so is a kind of alchemy of people and nature," ^project managing partner Tom Cody tells us. That is, Portland's a place where "they can pursue an active lifestyle, biking to work and exploring the city at their front door and rural Oregon at their back door."

Top talent in the design, creative and tech sectors also come here because Portland aligns with their values, Tom says, and they can be connected to such locally specific features as an active restaurant and craft manufacturing scene. "Field Office embeds these values into the workplace, so that the workplace becomes an extension of the way they live."

Scheduled for completion in early 2018, Field Office will include two buildings designed to embody creative office concepts. For instance, its ground-floor gardens and pavilions and other features integrate the landscape into the buildings and bring workspaces outdoors. In a market like Portland, that's a key consideration.

National Real Estate Advisors president and CEO Jeff Kanne says the property fits his company's "build-to-core strategy for developing vanguard assets which attract leading creative tenants."
