Temporary Homeless Shelter Opening In Downtown Building That Will Later Be Creative Office

Portland, Multnomah County, the nonprofit Transition Projects and local developer Tom Cody have collaborated on plans for a new temporary homeless shelter in Downtown Portland, which will open tomorrow night, the day before Thanksgiving. The overnight shelter, PEACE II, will be available to about 100 men over 55, veterans and those with disabilities, reports the Portland Business Journal.

The shelter will be on the ground floor of the Bushong & Co Building at 333 SW Park Ave for about six months. Tom Cody acquired the building for nearly $3M in September. His company is planning a major renovation of the property to turn it into creative office. Currently, the project is in its permitting phase, allowing part of it to be used for the shelter. [PBJ]
