Did you know that Frank Lloyd Wright was a pioneer in hiring women architects at a time when few firms would? NYCREW celebrated Women’s History Month last Thursday at Ted Moudis Associates’ Madison Ave office by watching A Girl is a Fellow Here, written and directed by Beverly Willis, president of the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation. The documentary focused on six of the over 100 women who worked with Wright. Above, minus the popcorn: KMN Associates’ Kathleen Nelson, Fidelity National Title’s Isabelle Pullis, Ferzan Robbins & Associates’ Liz Muskat, and Ted Moudis’Lucy Carter.
JPMorgan’s Jennifer Stewart and Beverly (joined by Beverley Willis Foundation’s Wanda Bubriski) also spoke on a panel with Liz Muskat and Ted Moudis’ Monica Larsen Wetherell. Beverly began her career as a multimedia artist, and through this began her 50-year career in architecture and design. Liz and Jennifer both began as architects, but were led respectively into real estate/construction and the financial side. But each said that her training in architecture developed skills that have proven to be invaluable to their careers.
