Several DC tech firms made Forbes Most Promising Companies list, a national ranking of 100 startups poised to do big things in ’14. At #4, Evolent Health, based in Arlington, Va., sells software and consulting to healthcare providers. Evolent CEO Frank Williams once ran The Advisory Board, a $2B healthcare consulting firm, and recently raised $100M in Series B funding. WeddingWire, an online wedding marketplace, was #27, highlighting CEO Tim Chi’s background as a Blackboard founder and raising $34M from Martha Stewart OmniLiving and others. Columbia, Md.-based TheraPearl ranked #41 with its hot and cold gel packs and is working with Bausch & Lomb on eye masks. The #71 spot went outside of the DC region to Richmond, Va.-based Ledbury, which designs, manufactures, and sells menswear online.
