FBI To Announce New $2.5B HQ Building In December

The wait is almost over—the FBI will announce the location of the site for its new $2.5B headquarters in December.

The choices for the 2.1M SF building have been narrowed down to locations in Greenbelt, MD, Landover, MD, and Springfield, VA, Commercial Property Executive reports. The successful bidder’s prize is twofold—they will not only build the new headquarters, they will also take title to the FBI’s current headquarters at the J. Edgar Hoover Federal Building on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC.

While the Hoover Building has enough maintenance problems to warrant its demolition, the site boasts 1.77M SF of rentable space in a prime location for office, retail or residential use. [CPE]
