GSA Expects to Award FBI Contract in 2016

Placeholder

The General Services Administration announced Wednesday that it's finalized a short list of bidders vying to build the new FBI HQ and hopes to award the contract in 2016.

There have been rumblings that the project was in jeopardy due to a lack of funding. An environmental impact statement on each of the three sites in contention was delayed and that only helped fuel speculation on the project’s future. The report is now slated to be released in November and will allow the finalists to submit more detailed proposals for a 2.1M SF HQ in either Greenbelt, Landover or Springfield.

The names of the short-listed candidates have not been released due to procurement sensitivity, but speculation has centered on Boston Properties, Vornado, Lerner Enterprises and the JBG Cos. The GSA has also outlined the requirements that will serve as a basis for RFPs. [WBJ]
