Louisiana-based telecom CenturyLink is leaving all of its space in the 1.3M SF 1801 California building in Downtown Denver, or about 110K SF. The company will move the employees who work there to other buildings in metro Denver. At one time, Qwest Communications occupied the entire building, but it reduced its presence there in 2010. CenturyLink moved in when it acquired Qwest in 2011.

On Wednesday, the company released a statement about the move: "As part of our long-term strategy, CenturyLink is moving its employees from leased to owned buildings. As of April 14, there will no longer be CenturyLink employees at 1801 California." The CenturyLink signage also is coming off the building.

The space won't be vacant very long, the Denver Business Journal reports. Medical-ratings company Healthgrades already inked a deal to take three of the floors vacated by CenturyLink, and according to building owner Brookfield Property Partners, negotiations are underway with other potential tenants to occupy the balance of the space.

CenturyLink is merging with Broomfield-based Level 3 Communications. Level 3 occupies a four-building campus in Broomfield totaling about 850K SF.
