TRANSWESTERN GASSES UP ON 1999 BROADWAY

Transwestern continues to fuel its office leasing momentum this year with more gas.

We have word that Transwestern inked a 57k SF deal for Berry Petroleum at 1999 Broadway, the iconic 680k SF tower in downtown Denver. Actually, Berry was already there, but expanded its presence by 19k SF (after a warm summer, it's nice to lean back and stretch your legs), which helps put the tower at 93% occupancy. Transwestern’s Peter Thomas and Andrew Piepgras secured the lease extension for the consortium ownership.

Transwestern SVP David Shapiro is seeing a jump in office activity across his portfolio, which includes Regency Plaza and One Southgate, among others. David highlights 40k SF in recent deals he secured at Denver Corporate Center III (above). He tells us rents have reflected this activity, with average Class-A rents jumping from $22 to $25/SF last year to $25 to $30/SF this year.

While some firms don’t like to advertise downsizing, Transwestern is rather proud of it. Above, Jim Eide, Melinda DiMarco, Camille May, Lyndsi Kocher, Bobbie Walsh, and Ed Mullaney were among the more than 40 company participants in a group fitness and weight loss challenge. Combined, everyone lost 145 pounds, more than 50% body fat and 93 inches across the waist.
