Big things are happening in Denver’s Southeast Suburbs, including the opening of the Charles Schwab campus in October, with more development underway. That’s why we’re excited to host the Future of Southeast Suburban on Jan. 27, starting at 7:30am at the Inverness Hotel. Lone Tree Mayor Jim Gunning will be one of the speakers.
Mayor Gunning tells us that his city is well positioned for growth because of its location in the Southeast Corridor, its strategic investments in transit and transportation infrastructure, and its attention to community development. Mayor Gunning is snapped cutting the ribbon at the grand opening of the Charles Schwab campus, along with Schwab's Glenn Cooper and Brian McDonald, and Douglas County Commissioner Jill Repella.
The Charles Schwab project includes 650k SF of office that's now home to over 2,000 employees, making it the largest-private sector employer in Douglas County. The mayor adds that the city is fortunate to have strong partnerships with the business and development community, streamlined development review processes and favorable demographics, which allows it to focus on "a targeted and regional economic development strategy.”

Holland Partner Group senior development director Scott Menefee, who will also be a speaker, tells us that 2015 is going to be a very strong year for the Southeast Suburban market, with continued job growth. Scott believes the development around the transit stations along the Southeast Suburban corridor is going to "change the live/work/play possibilities dramatically this year as multifamily, retail and office developments deliver and break ground." Under the FasTracks voter-approved initiative, more transit stations are in the works for the region.
