For Atlanta-based Fuqua Development, it's time to move on--to another site along Colorado Boulevard.
Fuqua's Jeff Fuqua says he's disappointed the University of Colorado turned down his "true mixed-use" proposal for the redevelopment of the former hospital. It's been a touch-and-go project for Jeff for more than a year (even at one point partnering with Lionstone Capital until that JV fell apart). While the committee who will award the master development title has yet to officially name its selection, Jeff says whoever will do it is likely offering much more money and speed of closing for the site.
But Jeff says he's not out of the Denver market. While not naming specifics, he says his firm is eyeing parcels along Colorado Boulevard to develop "smaller mixed-use projects." He says he's in talks with some landowners but declined to identify them. (A gentleman never asks, a developer never tells.)
