International law firm Akin Gump will occupy three floors within The Union when it delivers next year. Akin Gump will condense its 80K SF footprint at 1700 Pacific in the Main Street District to 68K SF in The Union's 22-story office tower.

The Akin Gump deal brings the 800K SF office to 60% pre-leased.

The law firm will relocate about 100 lawyers and advisers and 170 personnel to The Union over the next two years. Akin Gump will join fellow law firm Vinson & Elkins in the offices, as well as accounting firm Weaver.

Red Development’s mixed-use project at Cedar Spring Road and Field Street will have 309 apartments in a 23-story residential tower by StreetLights Residential, 22 stories of office in a separate tower, and ground-floor retail, restaurants and amenities. The retail will be anchored by a 60K SF Tom Thumb grocery. Two restaurants by Sam Fox, The Henry and North Italia, will open in 2018.

DPR is constructing the project designed by HKS.
