Firms in the Charlotte MSA produced $37B in manufactured goodsin the past year, up $8.3B from five years ago, according to the latest US Census of Manufacturing. In fact, Mecklenburg County has more manufacturing firms than any of the other 99 counties in the state. |
And many have international ties (like Nucor Steel, above). The French-Asian company Bluestar Silicones just announced its manufacturing HQs are moving to Charlotte. And more recently, Swiss-based energy company ABB Group broke ground on a $90M, 250k SF cable manufacturing plant in Huntersville that's expected to employ more than 100 and annually infuse $20M into the local economy. |
