WHEN YOU’RE HOT

Firms in the Charlotte MSA produced $37B in manufactured goodsin the past year, up $8.3B from five years ago, according to the latest US Census of Manufacturing. In fact, Mecklenburg County has more manufacturing firms than any of the other 99 counties in the state.

 

And many have international ties (like Nucor Steel, above). The French-Asian company Bluestar Silicones just announced its manufacturing HQs are moving to Charlotte. And more recently, Swiss-based energy company ABB Group broke ground on a $90M, 250k SF cable manufacturing plant in Huntersville that's expected to employ more than 100 and annually infuse $20M into the local economy.
