Portland, Ore.-based Daimler Trucks North America will add almost 700 production jobs at its Mount Holly and Gastonia manufacturing plants before year end. (Who said Americans don't build anything anymore?) The Mt. Holly plant (which manufactures Freightliner trucks) will add a second shift to its operations, creating 535 manufacturing jobs and 37 related administrative positions by September. The Gastonia plant makes truck parts and will add 121 manufacturing workers and three administrative positions during Q4 2011. Gov. Perdue called the announcement ?another terrific example of how our investments in education to build a trained, educated workforce have created a business climate attractive to global companies.? That's a Big 10-4. |
