These ?homes? represent some of the last vestiges of decay in Charlotte's outskirts. But the future shines bright (even here). Local developer Blackstowne Services recently won a rezoning from the town of Matthews allowing about 65k SF of new development, including space for offices, light industrial, and manufacturing. The 4.4-acre site is on Monroe Road, just over the Charlotte line. Blackstowne owner David Schwarz is calling the proposed development Matthews Commerce Center. David couldn't be reached for comment, and a construction cost wasn't available. Project backers describe the proposed center as being compatible with surrounding land uses. And thanks to the serial killer hiding behind a bush who sent us these photos.
