The New Familiars (above) is just one of the Charlotte-area indie bands whose outdoor performances aren't necessarily appreciated by the neighbors. The Charlotte City Council?s Community Safety Committee is weighing concerns neighbors have about amplified noise levels too close to their homes. Meanwhile, restaurants and bars, especially in grunge-fueled NoDa, have grown accustomed to the business live music brings in. Some bar owners have even been accused of turning down the volume when the cops show up, thencranking up the jam as soon as the blue lights disappear. No date has been set for sending anything before the full City Council. We'll keep our ears open. |
