The Charlotte Chamber recently returned from its 57th annual Inter City Visit, its yearly pilgrimage to learn tricks of the trade from counterparts in other cities. The Chamber took 130  Charlotte execs on a tour of Seattle?s misty seaside vistas. Chamber prez Bob Morgan  says such junkets afford local business leaders a chance to see how things are done elsewhere, even if that city is nearly twice Charlotte's size. Topics explored included: the role of philanthropy in shaping a community, neighborhood redevelopment, econ development, and clean energy. Bob also came back with a few observations of the Emerald City, including that its ?political climate is generally anti-business.? Auntie Em, Auntie Em! ?The prevailing attitude is that it is OK for individuals to be different.?  And of course, ?Seattle?s street corners all seem to have Starbucks, while Charlotte's seem to have churches.? There's no place like home.
