| Knights GM Dan Rajkowski met for two hours recently with the Mecklenburg County Commission?s Economic Development Committee to hash out goals for relocating the Knights from Fort Mill, SC, to a site uptown. The committee further agreed that the Knights host their first home game in the new stadium by the 2014 season. If the goals aren't met, the county can walk. The committee?s recommendations go before the full board June 21. But talk about bringing Triple-A ball uptown didn't sit well with its most vocal opponent, Charlotte attorney Jerry Reese. |
Jerry has a plan of his own to bring major league baseball uptown, though the viability of his concept is the subject of some debate. Discussions with the Knights appear to be progressing. And Jerry says the committee?s efforts place Charlotte squarely in league with such cities as Columbus, Ohio, and Pawtucket, R.I. Ouch! ?The committee?s decision is very short-sighted,? Jerry tells us. |
