IREM Experts to Brainstorm Via Social Media

Beth Machen, prez of Machen Advisory Group in Charlotte, has become prez of something else: the Institute of Real Estate Management (she's posing with outgoing IREM prez Jim Evans). What's on tap  in 2013? ?One initiative that we're kicking off is our Shared Interest Communities within our membership,? she tells us. ?IREM covers many property types, so we are reaching out within our membership to gather our property-specific or issue-specific experts.? These members will then gather through social media to brainstorm about the next big thing in their area of expertise, and disperse their idea to the rest of the membership in various formats. So far IREM has 11 SICs encompassing retail, office, seniors housing, student housing, sustainability, MOB, industrial, mixed-use, military housing, conventional apartments, and federal housing.
