ICE RIVER PROJECT RUNS HOT

Water bottling company Ice River Springs spent about $7M on a recently completed 120k SF expansion in Morganton that included hiring about 20 new people, Ice Rivers? Jenny Hudson tells us. The expansion brings Ice River's Morganton operations to about 420k SF overall. It now employs about 100, Jenny says. HQ'd in Ontario, Ice River opened in 2006. It was the bottler?s  first US plant. The City of Morganton and Burke County awarded Ice River local economic development grants  to do the expansion. The company will receive annual cash incentive payments of about  $16k per year  until 2013. It also will be reimbursed (currently unspecified) amounts equal to half the plant?s anticipated annual tax revenues each year for the next eight years.
